Pinnacles Grazing Plan

Grasslands Management Course Project Spring 2022

This management plan for a former ranch in Bear Valley, Pinnacles National Park, prioritizes native plant cover, burrowing owl habitat, and California tiger salamander habitat. A three year strategy is recommended with 2 phases: site priming and recovery. Mowing, prescribed burning, and cattle and goat targeted grazing treatments will be used to tackle a significant yellow starthistle stand and decrease annual grass cover in the site.
